My first lesson plan pointed out making math fun. The lesson plan that I utilized this time is taken directly from a math teacher who I find inspirational when if comes to math. She not only makes math interesting, she makes if fun too. These are two great qualities when it comes to mathematics, especially since many people do not see it as either one of these topics. Below is an awesome video, which shows just how inspirational she is! You can actually pull up the video for an example of the Tinkertoy Derby as well.

The lesson plan that she utilizes is specifically for grades 3-7 mathematics, but I think that I would be able to utilize this in a high school classroom as well. The lesson teaches the students the concept of speed. The lesson plan includes cooperative learning through a group activity of two students. Students will ultimately come together as a group and introduce their Tinkertoy Derby Cars to the class and have a race! I feel this project will bring individuals together to work as a team. Below is the lesson plan itself, but in addition I found another plan that can be used if you do not have the Tinkertoy's available for use in your own classroom.
